Rock overload

Postby Blarney Stone on Mon May 18, 2009 1:06 pm

Oh boy I just do not know where to start. Well here is a good spot. Now I know why you guys here at Rockwerks love agates so much. So the feller who visited a while back and happened to be a rock hound did exactly what he offered to do. He just went to, I believe, the Palm Springs mineral and gem show. I sent him some doe ahead of time and wondered what he would pick up for me. I am new and have only really played with a lot of copper related minerals, turquoise, chrysacola malachite, ect. So.... my box of slabs arrived, I just want to say it again out of excitement not boasting BOX 'O' SLABS. Ohhh how I fell in love with moss agates it was love at first sight. I have big slabs of (Maury Mt.) my favorite of the mosses I have. Some slabs from a place called Walker ranch, a bunch of green moss, I have red moss.... enough with the mosses
there is some black butte agate, I like the crazy lace agate too, agates I do not even know the name of they look like fossilized coral. I have jaspers in so many different colors and patterns. I have pet wood , opalized wood, limb casts and carnelian. I have a bunch more slabs but I will spare you guys I just wanted to share some of my faves with you. I plan to post pics of what they become cab wise and some slabs too. Thanks . I think I might put a slab of moss agate under my pillow when I go to bed tonight. I feel like a little boy at Christmas time.

Do you guys want pics of some slabs or finished cabs?
You know Joe I had a heck of a thought about the India slabs I have but I am not going to reveal it just yet. I still have to work it out on paper but I think it will work. Ahh what the heck. I am going to make a small four sided lamp shade for a little light bulb and the green moss can all be seen. Cool huh, and it wont take a lot of silver either because it will only be around the edges.

A lamp shade... AWESOME!
I would love to see pics of that project. Have you seen any of the lampshades or small buildings made by Dave (Snowdog)? He came to visit once and brought some to show me. They look soooo good!
Someday I'd like to learn the metalwork so I could attempt something like that.
Best of luck on the project! It's a winner!
