Usually Idocrase is a bit more intense green. So if the image color is good, I'd go with Dan for jadeite.

Thanks,I was thinking the same thing, I do find Vesuvianite in the area as well. The color in the photo is right on, I have a large piece, to big for my 10 inch saw, except for the little piece in the photo I will not be able to cut more slabs until I have access to a larger saw. It is a very hard and cool stone, the color is very consistent through the stone as far as I can tell, and it appears to be free of any cracks or fractures, any way, its a super neat stone and I will show how it takes a polish as soon as I can, thanks again for the educated input.

Does the slab have a crystalline appearance? If so it would probably be Jadeite. Jadeite usually isn't found in an area where Idocrase is found. Nephrite can be found associated with Idocrase. Lesser quality Idocrase often has the whitish appearance especially that found at Happy Camp.

It does seem crystaline, it has other jadite properties as well, but due to the location, Indian Creek just north of Happy Camp, I will go with the idocrase, I have been told vesuvianite, but all the vesuvianite I find in the same area is very different.
