You already know me, but... update

Postby jodetoad on Tue Feb 17, 2009 9:23 am

Hi, all. This seems like the best spot for this post. (?)

Sorry I haven't been around, my computer died, Mom got sick, and stuff just seemed to keep happening.

This last weekend I did a show with a partner, it was a nightmare. Most of you know how much work that is. The first day it snowed all day, we froze. 5 people walked by all day. The 2nd day I was sick from being in the cold, and missed it. That day was busy, and my partner did well. The 3rd day I was back, I sold 1 thing. It rained, so the snow melted off the canopy, and came down in waterfalls and avalanches all over our stuff, and our few customers. The rain was colder than the snow, in a way... If it stopped raining/snowing, the wind blew our stuff all over. People were shooting guns, it was an Old West theme event, so periodically we got shock therapy. I was so happy to get home and get warm, I don't care that I didn't make a profit.

I wrapped and twiddled for weeks to prepare for this, so I have lots of pieces I'll put up on my website. As soon as they are up, I'll post some pictures of some of them here. Haven't cabbed during the cold weather, the cursing when the cabs pop off the dops is bad for my morals. But soon it will be warm enough here!

I hate outdoor shows. Gloria's earrings get blown away, dust gets into everything, and rain messes up the tables.

We're still listening to your CD...

Jody!!!!! So good to see you again. Sounds like it hasnt been a fun winter for you. Keep your chin up, spring is around the corner. That show you did really sounded miserable.

Looking forward to more posts from you.

Thanks. I may not do shows any more. Even inside. Even though I bought that stupid canopy thing.

Glad you like the CD, Steve. Doing music is so rewarding, it has been such a gift to me.

Grinding weather is coming!! I did meet a man at the show who bought a bunch of rock from the estate of a deceased lapidarist. Said most of it is pretty high-end stuff. He wants to sell it, he's not a rock person, who knows why he even bought it. So maybe I got a line on some good stuff. It's always exciting to get new rock. If it works out, I'll put some pictures up.

Jody, that would be a really great deal. Ive always wanted to buy a rock estate........maybe someday. The problem is having the funds for a large amount of rock all at once.

The shooting was pretend gunfights very close to us. I don't know what they were shooting, blanks of course, but it was loud. I don't know diddly about guns. It was in Kernville, which was called Whiskey Flats in the old days when the miners were all prospecting around here. It was pretty rowdy back then.
