Purple rock green rock?

Postby Blarney Stone on Wed Feb 11, 2009 7:16 pm

I have no clue whatsoever as to what these rocks are. One is wavy and creamy light and dark purple. The other is green with white wispy seams in it. If anyone knows don't hesitate to post the answer. I have a hunch the purple one might be ryolite for some reason, but I have no clue.

Wow! I'm not sure what those are, the top one almost looks like an opalite with cinnabar? The other two, not sure. They almost look like glass. Really nice stones, WOW.

I think you are right Dan. I think they are glass. Man made possibly? ...The purple one has white crystal formations within it but I bet that can be replicated by two types of glass that cool at different temps. We have Man made rubies and diamonds nowadays. I do have some natural obsidian that has been asking to attempt to become cabs. I have never tried glass before. I was going to ask Weshan but with all this rock talk and pictures I am going to go try it as soon as I am done posting. yhipee Thanks

I have a whole flat rate box of glass.......looks just like that. Fun stuff to tumble and cab.

Is it man made Weeshan or is it some natural occurring glass?

No, its not natural at all. I got mine from a guy that goes to a glass shop....its slag glass, leftovers from the manufacturing process.
