Ninilchik Jasper + some Xmas presents

Postby jodetoad on Thu Dec 27, 2007 4:08 pm

A while back Ken sent me some of the red jasper he finds up in Alaska. He has seen photos of the cabs, but not the wraps, and suggested you might be interested in seeing them.

I kept this one, another experimental wrap. Last time I performed I wore it, and got some compliments on the rock.

It's good solid rock, and there are little sparkles in the veins when you turn it.

Here are a couple bolas I made as gifts. I like bolas, it seems men either like them or hate them. I told the recipients if they didn't like it, pretend.

And a couple other gifts:

Thanks for looking.

Very Very Nice, I am in awe, those are wonderful wraps, stones and cabs. You are very very good. Is that the Jasper that has the sparkles in it?

I told the recipients if they didn't like it, pretend.
:axe LOL

Great work,
Dan

Those turned out really nice. That jasper is from the beach. It is interesting to see how you adapt the style of wrap to the strengths of the stone. That braided edge wrap on the lavender pink stone is very stylish.

That is some wonderful work Jody. I like the little flourishes that come out on to the front of the piece, the second one is really nice. You definitely have your own voice.

Thanks, all. Yes, the 1st two photos are Ninilchik Jasper from Ken. The sparkle is small scale, the kind of thing you really enjoy while you grind it, but wonder if anyone else will see.

It was interesting making stuff for particular people. The 2nd bola was for my brother, who is a pro guitarist and a bit out there. The pink pendant was for my daughter-in-law, a very pale blonde Norwegian. The red pendant went to my sister-in-law, a Mexican woman with a strong personality and rich coloring. It was fun to choose stones for their coloring and characters.
