Is this Parrot Wing Jasper?

Postby bitterbrook on Fri Apr 17, 2009 11:44 am

I wrote down what this material was, and lost the note. Someone told me it's Parrot Wing, but I don't think I've seen predominantly red PW before... Note, these are small cabochons, the left one 20mm long, the right one is 28mm.

I am no expert or an experienced rock hound but it looks like sonora sunrise chrysocolla to me and all the red is cuperite. :?:

Hi, Blarney,

This is way too hard to be Cuprite; this is jasper-hard.

I'll try to find the rest of the slab and post that...
