In desperate need of a certain slab...

Postby weeshan on Wed Feb 13, 2008 12:26 pm

Hi all,

I am making the pendant and chain that my sister will be wearing for her wedding in June. Its an honor that she asked me. Her fiance will be in black, her in white so she wanted a black and white pendant to match. The cab is a beautiful clear agate with black plumes. Rather than her skin color showing through the agate, I would like to make a doublet using a white stone for the back. As pure solid white as possible. And something durable as the agate cab will be very thin.

I have nothing white like this. Does anyone have something that would work? Its a small cab so I would only need a little bitty slab....maybe 2"x2". On second thought, maybe a little bigger in case I mess up. And something obviously stable with no fractures.

If someone has something that would work, please contact me by pm. I would be willing to pay or trade for it.

Thanks!

I'll have to look. I'm not sure if I have anything white enough or not. I'm assuming it has to be pretty uniform in color.

HI Shannon,
The only thing I think I have that is pure white is some carving Marble, but it is softer than agate so the hardnesses won't match, but I would be glad to send some for the cause if you think it may help,
Dan

I thank you all for your responses and offers. You guys are going to laugh at me. Here I am in need of a white slab and I have absolutely nothing white here. The other day I decided to start weeding one of my flower beds and I uncovered a pile of......white rock, quartz and others. I had forgotten that I had taken all of the white stuff out of my tumbling bucket and put it in a pile in the flower bed last year. So, I guess I do have white material for the back of my sister's pendant LOL.
