Hi Mark,
Welcome to the board!!! First let me say that I have never found a meteorite, nor do I own one, so I am just relaying what I have heard about meteorites.
Is a magnet attracted to the stone?
Does it have a fusion crust? (burnt stone on out side layer)
Was it found in a known impact area? (It may be a new discovery to)
Does it appear to have metallic minerals in the interior of the stone?
If you answered yes to any or all of those it would be worth investigating further. If you Google online for Meteorite Man, you should find the website for id'ing meteorites.
I hope you found one, if you did, Lucky Dawg :-)
The pictures you posted were blurry to me so can't give you much feedback about the pictures.
Again welcome to the board! Glad to have you here.

I second what Dan said..........if you do a google search on "is this a meteorite" you will come up with a list of things to look for. If yours has some of the characteristics but you still arent sure, there are places you can send them to for a positive ID.

Hey, and I love the name mad dog stone LOL. :) Its a welcome addition to the term leaverite.

And welcome to the board!

Boy, it sure looks like a meteorite from the pockmarked exterior and the color. Is it heavier than a similar sized rock? Does it have any metallic appearance on fractured or disturbed places? Does it look glassy or have a fused looking surface?

Tks for the welcome guys.

Some clearer photos. Now it isnt magnetic what so ever & weighs about what any normal rock that size should.
